Question for those of you who have made 1840-50's dresses, how many petticoats did you use/need? I am debating whether or not to make a third basic petticoat to hide the ridges of the flounces on my second petticoat (the corded one is the first) Do you think I could cheat and wear my dress skirt right over the flounced petticoat?
